Four Romanians sentenced to jail for pickpocketing at Wolf of Wall Street premiere in London

A group of four Romanian pickpockets mingled with film fans that gathered for the premiere of Wolf of Wall Street in Leicester Square, London, and stole mobile phones from their pockets.

According to Daily Mail, officers from British Transport Police's pickpocket squad officers were patrolling Leicester Square London Underground when they spotted the four Romanians acting suspiciously while fans were queuing to get autographs from the Leonardo Di Caprio and the likes.

They noticed the Romanians getting close to the fans who were distracted by the excitement of meeting the film stars.

The cops saw Remus Dumitru use his hat to hide his hands while he reached into people's bags and pockets.

Then, they followed the group and arrested them just before they got into Llie Suchiu's car, parked nearby the Piccadilly Circus station, reports Daily Mail.

The four Romanians, namely Dumitru, Suchiu and Elena Zamfir of Higham Hill Road in  Walthamstow, and Florian Cernat of Carlton Road, Walthamstow, were jailed for a total of three years and nine months.

All four pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal. Zamfir got nine months in jail, while the others received one year each.
