French accordionist Richard Galliano returns for new show in Romania this spring
French accordionist Richard Galliano will hold a concert on March 6, 2012 at the National Opera in Bucharest. This is the second time Galliano comes to Romania after ”Viata e frumosa! 2011” (Life is beautiful) festival in November of last year.
Richar Galliano will be accompanied by the Accordion Ensemble ”Concertino” and by the National Opera "Eastern Royal Orchestra" from St. Petersburg, led by conductor Daniel Zakharov. His repertoire in Bucharest includes compositions of Astor Piazolla, such as “Primavera portena“, “Inverno porteno” sau “Otono porteno“. He will also play compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn and Vladimir Zubitsky.
Richard Galliano, born on December 12, 1950 in Cannes, has collaborated with famous artists throughout his career, such as Chet Baker, Michel Petrucciani, BrigitteFontaine, Eddy Louiss or Juliette Greco. During his career he was influenced by American jazz trumpeter Clifford Brown and by his father, an accordionist from Italy.
