French ambassador to Romania faints due to heat while delivering Bastille Day speech

The heat wave in Romania, currently at one of its peaks during this summer, has caused French ambassador to Romania Henri Paul faint while delivering his speech at the French embassy in Bucharest on his country's national day, the 14th of July.

The French ambassador to Bucharest, Henri Paul (in picture, left) fainted at the beginning of his speech but recovered fast. Prime minister Emil Boc, who was standing near him, was there to catch the ambassador.

Romania was placed under yellow code for heatwave, from Thursday July 14 until Sunday, July 17. The temperature reached 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) in Bucharest on Thursday.

The heat wave has taken over the entire Eastern Europe, having killed one woman in Bosnia.
