French celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau day this week in Bucharest

16 November 2010

The third Thursday of November is always the time when French people celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau and drink the newly produced red wine of the year. This yearly celebration is best tasted in its home country, France, but the French community in Bucharest usually also organizes events to celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau. This year, such an event will take place at the Ici et La restaurant (43 Mendeleev St.) on November 18, from 20,00 hours. The special menu of the evening, which includes the famous Beaujolais Nouveau wine, costs RON 90.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. It is the most popular wine, fermented for just a few weeks then officially released for sale on the third Thursday of November.
