French Lafarge reports 13.4% decrease in construction materials sales in Romania

French construction materials producer Lafarge's business in Romania fell by 13.4 percent last year compared to the previous, from EUR 270 million to EUR 233.7 million, said Philippe Questiaux, president and CEO of Lafarge Cement Romania. The results include cement sales, with the largest share, aggregate and concrete.

Lafarge has slowed down the sales drop in Romania compared to the previous year, when the turnover decreased by 43 percent, from EUR 480 million in 2008.

Worldwide, Lafarge's sales last year rose by 2 percent to EUR 16.17 billion. Lafarge Group is present on the Romanian market since 1997. The French group competes locally with Swiss group Holcim and German group HeidelbergCement.
