Fresh air bubbles downtown in Romanian capital increase awareness on pollution
Two ‘fresh air bubbles’ will attempt to raise awareness about air pollution and the need for fresher air in the capital city. The two transparent domes located on the Magheru boulevard in Bucharest will be moved to the Herastrau park in June.
The project is called ‘Breathe Deeply’ and was created by the Green Revolution Association and by the Carl von Linde foundation, in partnership with Linde. One of the bubbles re-creates the post consumption world, where all resources are gone, while the other showcases a quiet, green world, where people can breathe purified air.
Romania ranks 6th in a list analysing the environmental impact of national industries, according to the European Environmental Agency. When it comes to ranking countries by the industry impact related to their efficiency, Romania comes second – meaning the Romanian industry is a large, inefficient polluter.
Pollution triggered 7 million deaths in 2012, and people who live in areas with high traffic face higher risks of cancer, cardiac problems, and asthma.
