Funny movies, theater, horror and more to feature at 4th Comedy Cluj festival, in Romania
The fourth edition of the International Film Festival 'Comedy Cluj,' is on between October 12 and 21 and will feature over 130 films directed by filmmakers from 35 countries.
The festival is screening numerous premiers in Romania at the Florin Piersic, Victoria, House TIFF and Klausenburg Café cinemas plus exhibitions, theater productions and street performances.
Some of the productions entered in the competition this year are 'Baikonur,' directed by Veit Helmer (Germany), 'Killing Bono,' directed by Nick Hamm (Ireland), 'Hysteria,' Tanya Vexler (UK / France), 'Chinese Take-Away / A Cuento Chino' directed by Sebastian Borensztein (Argentina).
The jury is composed of Thom Palmen - director of the Umea Film Festival in Sweden, Laurentiu Damian - director and screenwriter, professor at the National University of Theater and Film "Il Caragiale" in Bucharest, Sebastian Stern - German director, winner of the best Director at the 2011 edition of "Comedy Cluj" for the movie 'Bumble Bee / Die Hummel,' Declan Cassidy - director and writer, founding member of the Irish Film and Television Academy, and Vivek Singhania - an Indian producer of numerous Bollywood films.
In the Focus Israel and Focus Hungary sections the festival will show a number of movies including '2 Night' directed by Roi Werner (2010) and 'Lenin in October,' directed by Evgeny Ruman (2010). Horror film fans will get their own section in the festival with 12 films, including 'A Cat in Paris' (Une vie de chat) by Jean-Loup Felicioli and Alain Gagnol, and 'A Monster in Paris' by director Bibo Bergeron.
Tickets for 'Comedy Cluj' can be purchased in advance at the Florin Piersic cinema and cost RON 9 full price and RON 7 for students and pensioners. The subscription price for five screenings is RON 35 and for ten projections - RON 60. For the Gala Award the ticket price is RON 15. At Klausenburg Cafe, entry will be free, but limited by available places.
