GDF Suez to launch 48 MW wind project in Romania
GDF Suez has recently announced its plans to start power production in Romania, through a 48 MW wind project. The new wind farm will be located in Gemenele, Braila county and will come on line in 2012. This “illustrates the group's confidence in the potential of Romanian renewable energy,” reads a statement of the company. GDF Suez also plans to develop a wind farm in Poland.
“The development of the group's wind projects in Romania and Poland demonstrates our desire to improve the diversification of the GDF Suez energy mix and to continue its expansion in promising markets through the best use of the group's expertise and technical synergies," said Gerard Mestrallet, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GDF Suez.
GDF Suez has 219,100 employees worldwide and 2010 revenues were of EUR 84.5 billion. In Romania, the company posted sales of EUR 894 million last year, up 4 percent on 2009.
