Generali sees growth on life insurance but overall premiums drop
Insurer Generali posted an increase of 8 percent on the life insurance segment in Romania last year, reaching a volume of EUR 22 million in gross subscribed premiums on this segment, according to the company.
Overall, the company reached a total volume of gross subscribed premiums of EUR 107 million last year, 13 percent lower compared to the same period last year. The general insurance segment also decreased by 17 percent from previous year, to EUR 85 million. A 19 percent increase was recorded on the unit-linked segment, followed by traditional individual insurance (up 7 percent) and group insurance (up 3.5 percent).
“In 2011 we will continue to develop life insurance, but we’ll also support other business lines with growth potential such as home insurance segment, travel support, corporate insurance and the insurance against damage to property”, said Marie Kovarova, CEO at Generali Insurance in Romania (in picture).
