Gerard Depardieu, Harvey Keitel start shooting movie in Romania next week
French actor Gerard Depardieu and American actor Harvey Keitel will come to Romania next week to shoot scenes of their upcoming movie 'Ipu- Convicted to Live', a Romania-Germany-Belgium-Italy co-production. The actors will play alongside local cast in Romania's Sighisoara.
The film is based on a novel by Romanian writer Titus Popovici, called 'The death of Ipu' (Moartea lui Ipu), set in a Transylvanian village at the end of the second World War.
Gerard Depardieu will play Ipu, the main character, who is convinced by his fellow villagers to take blame for the death of a German soldier found in the village. Harvey Keitel will play father Johanis.
Shooting for this movie - a low-budget, independent film directed by Bogdan Dreyer- will start on September 12 and last until October 25.
