German- based payment services provider Paymill expands to Romania

The payment services provider Paymill recently expanded to Romania, where it will offer payment tools to online stores and service providers on the internet. Set up in Germany and currently operating in 37 countries across Europe, Paymill has a particular emphasis on online card payments.

“In the past few years there has been a sharp rise in the number of e-commerce businesses, start-ups and especially SaaS- software as a service- businesses in Romania. This is why there has been a strong demand in Romania in the past for an innovative service provider,” said Mark Henkel, CEO and founder of Paymill (in picture).

The company's API enables merchants to integrate an online payment system, promising to work without the traditional hassle and the significant integration time that is usually required.

In January, Paymill raised EUR 10 million in a funding round from the investors Rocket Internet, Holtzbrinck Ventures, RI Digital, Sunstone Capital and Blumberg Capital.

Paymill was founded in Munich, Germany, in June 2012 by Mark Fabian Henkel. The company currently employs 40 staff, mostly with a technical background.
