German group Leoni plans to invest in new factory in Romania
German group Leoni plans to invest in a new factory in Suceava, northern Romania, said the deputy mayor of Suceava, Marian Andronache. The plant will create 1,000 jobs, 70% of which will be for women, according to local website Suceava News.
Andronache also said that the German group was searching for a production space of 10,000 sqm, with adjacent land needed for expansion.
Leoni supplies wires, cables, and wiring systems. The company has three plants in Romania, located in Bistrita, Arad, and Pitesti. They employ more than 11,700 people, according to the company.
The German group recently came into public attention after unidentified hackers managed to steal EUR 40 million from Leoni’s local subsidiary in Bistrita using an email scam.
