German wind turbines producer Nordex opens Romanian office

12 September 2011

German wind turbines producer Nordex will open an office in Romania after having landed the first two contracts in the country, the company has announced.

“Our target is to achieve a significant market share. The first projects are providing us with important experience for this. Being confident of the good prospects of the Romanian renewable energy market, we plan to set up a branch in the coming months,” said the company's CSO Lars Bondo Krogsgaard. The wind market potential is excellent, and it is expected that by the end of 2015 wind turbines with output of more than 3,000 megawatts will be in operation in Romania, according to Nordex.

The company's two contracts in Romania total 20 MW. The company will also focus on Poland and Bulgaria.

Renewable energy projects have picked up in Romania in the last couple of years, with several large international names having focused on wind energy, especially in the Dobrogea region of Romania. More about the wind energy projects in Romania in our article here.
