GfK: About 100,000 Romanians have gambling problems

About 98,000 Romanians of over 18 have problems controlling their gambling, according to a study by GfK. This represents about 0.6% of the people over 18.

Also, the same survey shows that over 2.4 million Romanians gambled at least once in the last year, reports local Agerpres.

The study was commissioned by two gambling associations in Romania. The study’s error rate is +/-3%.

About 8% of the Romanians over 18%, or about 1.2 million people, gamble at least once a week, the survey shows. People who gamble at least once a week are mostly single men, living in cities, with an average household income of about RON 2,500 (EUR 562).

A third of those who gamble weekly are aged 18-24.
