Gfk: Romanians lack resources for major purchases
Romanians are optimistic about economic growth and expect higher salaries, but their living standard remains low, as their revenues only cover for basic needs. Major acquisitions thus remain impossible for the majority of the population, according to market research company Gfk.
Romanian consumers have a positive sentiment about the economy’s evolution, as the indicator calculated by Gfk shows a positive value of +21.3 points, in the second quarter of 2015, which basically means that there are more Romanians who expect the economy to grow than those who expect a negative evolution. In the same period of 2014 the indicator was negative.
Romanians also have a positive perception about salary evolution (+19%). However, the purchase intention in Romania remained negative (-11.7 points), which means that there are fewer Romanians who expect to increase their spending than those who have no such expectations.
