RO opposition spots three major threats to country's Relaunch and Resilience Program

05 April 2022

Cristian Ghinea, a former minister of investments and European projects during the development of the country's Relaunch and Resilience Program PNRR, and now monitoring the program's implementation from the opposition (USR), unveiled on April 4 the second PNRR Health Bulletin.

The Government had just announced on April 1 that it met all the 24 milestones and deadlines a day before.

The opposition's report outlines three significant problems that threaten the implementation of PNRR.

Firstly, the milestones and targets are settled mostly on the last day before the expiry of the deadline.

Secondly, the Ministry of European Investment and Projects (MIPE) fails to play a coordinating role and fails to carry out informal consultations with the European Commission. This puts at risk some milestones that the European Commission may see as inappropriately tackled.

Thirdly, the political tensions between the ruling parties surface in media pretty often.

"The Social Democrats (PSD) and the Liberals (PNL) must stop arguing and focus on fulfilling the commitments. PNRR continues to be used as a political stake in the ongoing quarrel between PSD and PNL. The PNRR topic is still covered in fake news by PSD," the former USR minister of European projects commented, quoted by News.ro.
