Glazed frost may cause traffic restrictions in southern Romania
The southern Romania region has been under a code yellow for glazed frost starting Tuesday morning. This may cause traffic restrictions on the public roads in this region, including the three highways connecting Bucharest to Pitesti, Ploiesti, and Constanta, according to Romania’s National Highways Company – CNADNR.
The glazed frost forms as the rain touches the cold ground or other things, such as trees. It increases the risk for car accidents.
This is why CNADNR has asked the road police to close the affected road segments until the companies in charge of clearing the road finish spreading skid material and make the road safe for traffic again.
This problem will likely persist through the day. Starting Wednesday, new snowfall is expected in northern Romania while in the southern regions it will rain. The weather will also get warmer in the following days.
