Gold and bronze for Romania at the European Table Tennis Championships in Budapest
Romania’s team won four medals, namely one gold and three bronze, at the European Table Tennis Championships, which took place in Budapest from October 18 to October 23.
On Friday, Daniela Dodean Monteiro won gold in the mixed doubles competition, together with her husband Portuguese Joao Monteiro. They defeated the Swedish team made of Mattias Karlsson and Matilda Ekholm, with a score of 3-2 (5-11, 10-12, 11-5, 11-6, 14-12).
In the same competition, the team made of Ovidiu Ionescu and Bernadette Szocs won the bronze medal, after the Dodean/Monteiro team beat them in the semifinals.
Daniela Dodean also won bronze in the women’s doubles competition, where she teamed up with Elizabeta Samara. Samara also won a bronze medal in the women’s singles event.
