Gold medal and Thailand's special prize for Romanian inventor at Brussels Innova fair

23 November 2015

Romanian engineer Corneliu Birtok Baneasa won a gold medal and the special prize of Thailand’s delegation at the Brussels Innova fair which ended on November 21.

The Romanian presented a device that allows an up to 5% growth in the power of car engines while reducing pollutants and fuel consumption by 7%. The device, called “thermal deflector,” may prove very efficient in the summer season when the engines lose about 20% of their power because of the heat.

“The thermal deflector is not only limited to the automotive industry. It could also be used in constructions. Of course, when it comes to its usefulness, the research can be extended and diversified," said Corneliu Birtok Baneasa, cited by local Agerpres.

The thermal deflector presented by Birtok Baneasa at Brussels Innova was tested in practice in 2010, when it was implemented on cars and buses belonging to a public transport company in Alba Iulia.

At the Brussels Innova fair, Corneliu Birtok Baneasa represented Romania together with a team selected by the National Authority for Scientific Research and Innovation (ANCSI).
