New day off in Romania will increase the number of tourists on Easter

19 March 2018

The bill that grants an extra day off on the Friday before Orthodox Easter (April 6) will increase the number of tourists going on holiday on Easter by about 30%, according to local tour operator Christian Tour.

The first and second day of Easter (April 8, 9) are also legal holidays, which means that Romanians will enjoy a four-day mini holiday on Easter.

In just few days from the decision that Good Friday is a legal day off, travel agencies have already received more holiday requests for the Easter period compared to last year, according to Christian Tour. Romanians looking to spend a traditional Easter mainly choose local destinations such as the resorts in Prahova Valey, Bucovina, Maramures, Brasov and Marginimea Sibiului. Israel is also a preferred destination for Romanians who travel abroad on Easter.
