Good news for the animated movie lovers: Anim'Est is back with new edition

The International Animation Movie Festival 'Anim'est' returns with the fifth edition on October 8, bringing a selection of the most important animations of the moment. The opening event will take place at Cinema Patria on Friday, October 8 at 19:00 hours.

The festival will take place in Bucharest at Cinema Patria, Cinema Scala and Cinema Union between October 8 and 17 and will continue in Cluj – Napoca at Cinema Victoria during between October 22 and 24.

The ‘Mosaic’ section of the festival will include all feature-length and and short movies, selected and nominated at the most important movie festivals of the world, as well as the nominees and winners of the Oscar, Bafta and Cesar prizes.

The public of Anim'est will have the occasion to watch the premiers of the most successful feature-lenght movies such as: 'Panică în sat' (Panic in the Village), 'Castelul cu ghimpi (The Spuky Castle)', 'Boogie Gangsterul' (Boogie the Gangster) and last but not least 'Iluzionistul’ (The Illusionist), which will be the opening act of this year’s Anim’est edition.

The Bucharest audience will watch the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox, screened for the first time in a Romanian cinema. The film is directed by Wes Anderson and comes with a famous cast: George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray.

The movies nominated at different international festivals will also be present in the “Short Movies” section which includes the “Oscar” winners for the “Best Animated Short Movie 2009-2010”: 'The House of Small Cubes', (directed by Kunio Kato, Japan 2008) and ‘Loforama’ (directed by François Alaux, Herve de Crecy, Ludovic Houplain, France, 2009) which is also the nominee and winner in the same section at the Stockholm Festival.

'La dama y la muerte' (directed by Javier Recio Gracia, Spain, 2009) is the laureate of the “Golden Bear” Festival in Berlin, 2009’s edition, and 'Please say something' (directed by David O'Reilly, Germany - Ireland, 2009).

Another one of the most successful animated French movies of the year 2009 is 'L'homme à la Gordini' (directed by Jean-Christophe Lie, France, 2009), selected in the official competition of the “Cannes Festival” and winner of the “Best Debut Prize” at the “Annency Festival” and of the “Prize of the Public” at the “Animadrid” animation festival.

The most recent movies of famous animators like Bill Plympton or Juan Pablo Zaramella will also be featured. These are only some of the 48 awarded short animated movies which can be viewed in the “Mosaic” section and which compete for the Anim’est Public’s Prize.
