Goodbye to Gravity play The Day We Die in Friday's tragic concert opening

02 November 2015

Romanian rock band Goodbye to Gravity started their tragic concert of Friday night in Bucharest’s Colectiv club with a song called The Day We Die.

Many have found the piece to be somewhat premonitory as the lyrics criticize the corruption and the people’s lack of response to it, which are some of the causes that led to this tragedy.

The fire that started during the concert on Friday killed 30 people and injured five times as many. Two of the rock band’s members, guitarists Vlad Telea and Mihai Alexandru, also died in the tragedy.

Some 500 people went to the concert in which Goodbye to Gravity was supposed to release its new album, Mantras of War.

See below the concert opening, which was released on Youtube earlier today. The video was edited and the studio version of the song The Day We Die was added over the original recording, as the concert original sound was not clear, according to Universal Music Romania representative Vlad Busca, who made the video.

He said the fire didn’t start after the first round of fireworks (which can be seen in this video), but about half an hour later.
