Google Zeitgeist 2011: Romanians search for TV shows, VIPs, soap operas and exam results

15 December 2011

'Romania's got talent' (“Romanii au talent') was the year's fastest rising search on Google in Romania, reveals data from the search engine, which for the first time included Romania in its Zeitgeist. Facebook and iPhone 5 followed in the top of fastest rising searches.

The Bacalaureate results in 2011 were the most searched for term in Google News, while the fastest rising travel searches were topped by offers on the country's seaside. However Cote D'Azur town St. Tropez popped up at number 7 among searches for Romanian beach resorts.

'Romania's got talent' was top of the entertainment searches, followed by the 'Color of Happiness'- an Indian soap opera broadcast on Romanian TV stations.

Amy Winehouse was the most searched person, followed by Oana Zavoranu – a Romanian singer and actress who makes tabloid headlines- and Daniela Crudu, a TV show assistant known for her nude pictures in Playboy. Fifth came Florin Salam, singer of a Balkan music genre called Manele.

'Limitless' and 'Fast Five' were on top of the searches in the movies category, followed by 'Source Code' and 'Thor'.
