Romania’s Ministry of Economy presented in the Government meeting on Monday, August 24, the draft emergency ordinance for the “Electric-Up” program.

The program aims to support local small and medium enterprises to buy and install photovoltaic panels for producing electricity and charging stations for electric vehicles.

The maximum financial support offered within this program is EUR 100,000 per company and the total budget is EUR 200 million, according to the Government’s spokesman Ionel Danca.

Economy minister Virgil Popescu announced this program earlier this spring. At that time, he referred to hotels as the main beneficiary for the grants scheme.

This program is part of the Government’s EUR 100 billion National Investment Plan aimed at restarting the local economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.
