Government in talks with car parts producers to invest in Romania
The Government is currently in talks with two large companies active in the automotive sector to get them to invest in Romania, said Economy Minister Costin Borc.
He added that he can’t provide additional information because the decisions are not final and could be affected by early disclosures, reports local Economica.net.
The two companies are both active in the car parts manufacturing sector, but one is from Europe, and one from outside the continent. However, the minister said that it was important for Romania to develop Romanian subcontractors, both for the current investors in the automotive sector, namely Renault and Ford, as well as for the third one.
Romania missed an investment of the German car producer Daimler this year, due to its poor road infrastructure. The group finally decided to build its EUR 500 million Mercedes engine plant in Poland.
