Romania's Govt. wants to build new subway line, luxury resort with private partners

Romania’s Government introduced on Thursday, August 23, eight more strategic projects to the list of investments that will be prepared and developed in public-private partnership, according to Government sources quoted by local Mediafax.
The new projects include a high-speed railway line to connect Bucharest to Craiova, Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca, with a total length of 1,275 km, and the expansion of the Bucharest subway system with a new line from Bragadiru to Voluntari, with a length of 25 km and 30 stops.
The Government also plans to build a system of luxury resorts at the Black Sea, called “New Costinesti” on a 2.5-kilometer beach strip between Costinesti and 23 August, which will include four luxury resorts on 800 hectares and 8 five-star hotels with over 4,000 rooms, plus waterparks, a golf course and 100 hectares of gardens and forests.
The expansion of the Constanta port, a new hydro power plant on the Danube and a multifunctional clinic in Bucharest are also among the listed projects.
The list of projects to be developed in public-private partnership has thus reached 21 objectives, including three highways and a large republican hospital.
