Golf lovers in Romania will have more choices once a new planned golf resort will be built in Suceava county, in the northern part of the country. The resort, located in Mitocul Dragomirnei, near Suceava, will include a five-star hotel, golf courses, shops, restaurants, a SPA. The project, called Dragomirna Golf Resort, will require an investment of around EUR 40 million. It will include a hotel, an 18-hole golf course, a golf academy with a nine-hole course, a modular conference center, a SPA center, sport fields, shops, restaurants, stage for outdoor performances and recreation areas.

According to Suceava Mayor Ion Lungu, the Suceava and Dragomirna municipalities could team up with the private investors behind the Dragomirna project, Romanian company Dedeman and a group of private investors. They have submitted a letter of intent for this partnership and also intend to submit a request for European funding, according to Lungu, quoted by local media.  Dedeman runs a chain of do-it-yourself stores in Romania and it is owned by Romanian investors Dragos and Adrian Paval.

There are currently 3,000 golf players in Romania, most of which foreigners, and around 500 Romanian players, according to data from the Dragomirna Golf Resort.
