GTS Central Europe buys local firm Datek
Telecom company GTS Central Europe has bought local company Datek in a deal whose value was not announced. The two companies expect the new entity resulting from the deal will post revenues of EUR 25 million.
Datek has a network of 400 kilometers of optical fiber and specializes in alternative telecom services, like data transmission, infrastructure and IT system integration. The company has 200 customers. In 2008, Datek posted a turnover of EUR 5 million and a EUR 340,000 profit. The company was set up in 1994 by Leonard Lichi and his wife. GTS will integrate Datek in the Romanian operational structure while Lichi will occupy a management position within the company.
GTS Central Europe owns GTC Telecom in Romania. GTS Central Europe is owned by a consortia of private investment funds, among which Columbia Capital and M/C Venture Partners.
