Gunman shoots eight in downtown Bucharest hairdresser studio, kills two
A gunman shot eight people at a hair dresser in Bucharest on Monday evening (March 5), according to newswire Mediafax. One of the victims died immediately during the shooting at the hair dresser studio, located at the intersection between Dorobanti and Iancu de Hunedoara Blvd. in Bucharest (near the Perla restaurant).
According to local media, the gunman works as a driver with the Medical Direction of the Interior Ministry. Unofficial sources suggest one of the women who died was the attacker's wife. The two were going through divorce.
A second victim died after the shooting, according to Romanian newswires. Eye witnesses quoted by Romanian media said the attacker called the police after the shooting and surrendered himself to a security guard at the headquarters of a nearby Electrica payment unit.
Three people shot in the stomach were transferred to the Floreasca hospital, while the other three, with wounds to arms and legs, were moved to the Elias hospital. The two women who died were shot in the head and chest, respectively.
