19 November 2015

DefCamp, one of the most important conferences on hacking & information security in Central Eastern Europe, starts in Bucharest today.

Besides talks and debates on cyber security, cyber warfare, and identification and prevention mechanisms, the event’s program also includes several competitions.

One of them, which is called Hack the Bank, asks participants to hack into a banking system and withdraw money from an ATM located at the event location. The three competitors who manage to successfully withdraw money from the ATM machine will be rewarded with cash prizes.

In another competition, participants receive several details about a real target and they have to find out information about that specific person. This contest is called Target John. The program also includes the DefCamp Capture The Flag (D-CTF), the most shattering security CTF competition in the Central Eastern Europe.

More than 700 people from Romania and neighboring countries are to take part in the 2015 edition of DefCamp, which will end on November 20. Find more about the event and its program here.
