A tempest has taken over the capital city Bucharest during the after-noon, which turned into a short-term hailstorm in some areas of the city. The ice particles in Bucharest were however of small sizes. The rain shower comes after a full day of heat, with high temperatures across Romania. Meteorologists have warned about weather unpredictability, with high changes of precipitations during these days in Romania.

Several other areas in the country, such as Maramures, Calarasi, Ialomita, are under the storm notification. Miercurea Ciuc and Bucharest  have also received notifications for severe weather conditions, which includes intense wind, hailstorm.

Romania has suffered from a heat wave last week, after a period of heavy rains, which has caused flooding in the country.

According to Romanian traditional beliefs, such weather is expected during this period of the year, especially during the Saint Ilie day (which is tomorrow, July 20).
