Harlem Shake, a techno song which was launched in the 80s but which recently made a comeback, has found its way to Romania too via the newest worldwide internet viral dance which conquered the world in just three weeks. Social media brought people together in re-creating the 30-second dance, with several dancing scenes organized in various parts of the country. Students started filming themselves in classrooms and on buses while dancing to the tune that seems to have re-conquered the world. People who gather to perform the so called dance – which is made of somewhat disparate movements – dress in funny costumes. Watch some videos made by Romanians below.

In Romania, the new movement also found its way into PR as well. The agency Echipa de PR organized a Harlem Shake inspired moment for a fast food company Springtime. Meanwhile, also from the PR and advertising area, the employees of McCann Erickson filmed themselves while performing Harlem Shake, and it became a viral (watch video below). Then, students from the National Theater Art University posted a short film while they were Harlem Shaking.

A more iconic Harlem Shake recently took place in front of the People's Palace in Bucharest.

Romanians had plenty of inspiration from abroad. Manchester City players and backroom staff had their own take at Harlem Shake – see at the bottom of this article- and in opening picture. 

The whole movement consists in users uploading videos that last about 30 seconds and which feature the opening of Baauer’s song Harlem Shake. Most videos begin with a man giving a shrieking siren call of “Con los terroristas!”— Spanish for “with the terrorists”. He is followed by one person, usually wearing ridiculous mask or helmet, who dances to the song alone as the beat builds, and who slowly surrounds himself or herself by other people. At the call Then do the Harlem shake, the scene goes into chaos, with everyone dancing paroxysmal movements  while wearing their bizarre outfits. Everyone, from firefighters, to soldiers to wrestling stars have already performed the dance. New versions are being uploaded on YouTube, up to 4,000 new videos a day.

Harlem Shake is the techno track created by a DJ-producer named Baauer, and the return of the song was tracked back to the beginning of February, with a fan-made You Tube video, according to the Daily Beast. The topic made it into Time Entertainment, which covered the reaction of the real Harlem neighborhood inhabitants to the new Harlem Shake craze.

The new viral comes to put an end the internet era of Psy's horse – gallop dance which started in 2012 and which had taken over the whole world.
