Hasbro includes Romania in its special Monopoly edition
Toy maker Hasbro has included Romania on its Monopoly Here and Now board game edition, to be launched this autumn. The country will have its main airport, Bucharest’s Henri Coanda airport, in the board game.
Hasbro included Romania after a worldwide poll, which gathered 4 million votes. Romanian capital Bucharest was the 21st most voted worldwide, while Hong-Kong had the biggest number of votes.
The competition between cities was tough, said Larisa Popescu, brand manager Hasbro in Romania, but voters managed to keep Bucharest among top 10 for two weeks.
In the special edition of the board game, the Henri Coanda airport will replace one of the four railway stations included in the regular games. Its neighbors in the game will be Hong Kong, New York, London, Moscow, Tokyo, and Sidney.
Hasbro has so far launched 300 special Monopoly editions, each themed differently. The game, launched in 1935, has been translated into 47 languages and is being sold in 144 countries. It is one of the most popular real estate transactions board game in the world.
