HBO Romania documentary "The World According to Ion B." nominated for International Emmy
The documentary "The World According to Ion B.," produced by HBO Romania and directed by Alexander Nanau, has been nominated in the "Arts Programming" of the 2010 International Emmys, according to event website www.iemmys.tv.
The film tells the story of Ion Barladeanu, who, after living on the streets of Bucharest for almost 20 years, became a world-renown artist. His collages, depicting life in communist Romania, were displayed in 2009 in London, next to works by Andy Warhol and Marcel Duchamp, and in 2010 at a prestigious gallery in Paris.
"The World According to Ion B." was produced by HBO Romania and Alexander Nanau Production, in collaboration with Avro-Netherlands, YLE Teema and SVT Sweden. The winners of the International Emmy awards will be announced on October 22 in New York.
