Heads of central banks and finance ministers gather in Bucharest for IMF World Bank constituency annual meeting

Romania will host the rotating meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank's Netherlands Constituency ( which includes Romania ). The event in Bucharest will host 12 Central Bank governors and finance ministers of the countries which are part of the same constituency as Romania: Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Israel, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, the Netherlands and Ukraine.

The constituency is led by Rudolf Treffers from the Netherlands, and Romanian Stefan Nanu is the alternate executive director. The constituency votes on behalf of these countries on the IMF and World Bank boards. The members of this constituency meet once a year, on a rotating basis. The last time Romania hosted the meeting was in 1998.

The IMFC has 24 members, drawn from a pool of 187 governors. Its structure mirrors that of the Executive Board and its 24 constituencies. Romania is represented by Mihai Tanasescu at the IMF, who will soon end his five-year mandate and join the European Investment Bank as vice-president.
