Health minister Alexandru Rafila said that the demands of the trade unions in the public health system are justified, but they can be settled gradually – some in the short term, such as those related to the collective labour agreement, meal and holiday vouchers, employment in the system. Others such as salary increases, could be discussed within a reasonable period with the involvement of other ministries, such as that of finance.

Rafila was asked on the night of May 18, in a show at B1 TV, how he sees the "threats" with the general strike from the trade unions in the public health system.

"I don't know if it's about threats, after all, the right of any trade union organization is to defend the rights of its members. I had a fairly consistent meeting yesterday with the Sanitas Trade Union Federation, it is the most representative in the health field, and we discussed all these issues," Rafila stated, according to Economica.net.
