Heavy rains and floods return to South-Western Romania
Romanian authorities issued a code yellow for rains in Timis, Caras-Severin and Mehedinti counties in South-Western Romania and a code orange for flooding for the same counties, after heavy rains that fell in the region on Sunday and during Monday.
Flooding already caused landslides and blocked a public road in the town of Orsova, in Mehedinti county. A car was caught in the landslide causing one victim. Part of Orsova was flooded on Monday morning, according to Digi 24 news station.
The rains are expected to expand to the Southern part of Romania, a region that was also heavily affected by rains and flooding in July this year.
The Danube also doubled its flow at its entry point in Romania, due to heavy rains upstream.
