DIY retailer Hornbach opens online store in Romania
Hornbach, one of the main do-it-yourself (DIY) retailers in Romania, launched its online store on Tuesday, January 23.
The company will sell over 27,000 products online, at first, aiming to expand the offer by the end of this year, when over 80% of the products available in Hornbach stores should also be available online. Most of the items available in the online stores will be delivered to any address in Romania within 2-3 days.
Online clients also have the option to reserve some products online and pick them up from the company’s stores. Prices in the online store will be the same as offline.
Few local DIY retailers currently have online stores. Market leader Dedeman and local group Arabesque offer their clients the possibility to buy online. Meanwhile, other players like Brico Depot, Leroy Merlin, and Praktiker don’t have online stores.
Hornbach has three stores in or near Bucharest and in Brasov, Sibiu, and Timisoara. The company had a turnover of EUR 142 million and a net profit of EUR 3 million in 2016.
