Hourly labor costs go up by 14% in Romania in 2017

The average hourly labor cost in Romania, adjusted by the number of working days, increased by 1.3% in the fourth quarter of 2017 versus the previous quarter.

When compared to the same quarter of 2016, the increase was 14.3%, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).

The hourly labor cost increased in all activity sectors compared to the last quarter of 2016. The highest increase was in the entertainment sector, namely 28.7%, followed by the mining industry (21.6%), administrative and support services (16.6%).

In the public sector, the highest increases were recorded in the public administration (27.6%), healthcare and social assistance (18.6%) and education (16.8%).
