House prices in Romania, sharpest quarterly decline in the EU
The house prices in Romania dropped by 1.1% in the second quarter of the year compared to the previous quarter. It was the sharpest decline among EU member states, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.
By comparison, house prices in the European Union recorded a quarterly increase of 1.3%, whereas the house prices went up by 1.2% in the euro area. The highest increases were recorded in Cyprus (7.4%), Austria (6.4%), Denmark and Spain (both with 4.1%).
Only three EU member states saw decreases in house prices, namely Romania, Malta and Italy.
Compared to the second quarter of 2014, Romania’s house prices rose by 3.9%.
