Retail chains Cora, Kaufland, Selgros and Carrefour said they would display both the old and the new price, following the VAT reduction on food to 9% starting June this year.

Carrefour and Auchan said they would also freeze prices until that date, whereas Kaufland said it would take this into consideration, according to a report of the Agriculture Ministry, reports local Capital.ro.

The Competition Council has announced professional associations of retailers and manufacturers that they can recommend their members to lower prices by 12%, after the VAT cut, according to the Agriculture Ministry report. The Council has also told them that it will control the evolution of prices nationwide after the VAT cut, to see if they keep the price.
