Over 27,000 people worldwide used the online platform Airbnb to find accommodation in apartments or houses in Romania in the first nine months of the year.

Romania has about 3,000 accommodation places listed on Airbnb, most of them located in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Brasov, according to Ziarul Financiar.

The platform allows users in the whole world to connect with individuals in various places who rent out their houses for a certain amount of time.

Airbnb was launched seven years ago and is now worth over USD 25.5 billion.

Globally, over 26 million people used the platform to find accommodation between 2009 and 2014.
