How many Romanians have over EUR 100,000 in their accounts?
Some 23,000 individuals in Romania have bank deposits of over EUR 100,000.
The total value of their deposits was about EUR 5 billion at the end of last year, according to data from the Deposits Guarantee Fund, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.
The bank deposits are guaranteed up to EUR 100,000, in case a local bank goes bankrupt. What is above the EUR 100,000 threshold is the client’s risk entirely.
The total value of deposits over EUR 100,000 went up by some EUR 375 million last year compared to 2014 while the number of people who have such deposits increased by 1,310.
