Around 60% of the Romanian Internet users aged over 18 play online games on different devices, according to a study conducted by Starcom MediaVest Group. Some 80% of them play on their mobile phones, and more than 70% choose to play games on social networks.

Both men and women like to play games online, most of them being aged between 25 and 34. They play an average of 2.9 games, mainly on specialized websites or on social media networks.

Each game session lasts around one hour, the study shows. The users prefer to play on their laptops/desktops or smartphones, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Most of the Romanian users choose to play free games, mainly from the puzzle, educational, skill development, and AdventureQuest categories. Some 46% of the gamers play online on foreign websites and only 24% choose Romanian sites.

Most of the mobile game players are aged between 18 and 34 and have various game apps installed on their smartphones. They play an average of three games, with a daily frequency. However, they spend 30 minutes or less in a game session.

Their favorite games are the free ones, such as Candy Crush, Angry Birds, Diamond Dash, Fruit Ninja or Temple Run 2.
