How many Romanians transfer their phone numbers?
Almost 65,200 phone numbers were transferred from one telecom network to another in April this year. About half of them were registered in the RCS & RDS network, according to the telecom regulator ANCOM.
Over 14,500 number were transferred to the Orange network and a similar number went to Vodafone. Telekom Romania Mobile Communications got over 4,850 numbers from other networks and Telekom Romania Communications got almost 2,100.
The Romanian mobile phone users have been able to change their numbers from one network to another starting 2008. About 2.3 million mobile phone numbers have been transferred since then.
According to ANCOM, customers have the right to transfer their phone number even when they move from a subscription in the old network to a pre-paid card in the new network. RCS & RDS was recently fined for not allowing a new customer to keep its old number when moving from subscription to a pre-paid card.
