Romania’s touristic units recorded some 9.9 million arrivals last year, up by 17.2% compared to 2014. The Romanian tourists accounted for 77.4% of them.

The number of foreign tourists increased by 16.9% compared to 2014, to over 2.23 million.

Three-quarters of the foreign tourists came from Europe, some 1.66 million, up by 13% compared to 2014. The number of Asian tourists went up by 41%, to 319,000.

The total overnight stays in local hotels exceeded 23.4 million last year, up 15.9% compared to 2014. The foreign tourists’ share in the total number of overnight stays was just under 20%.

The average stay was 2.5 days for Romanian tourists and 2 days for foreign tourists.
