How much do airlines win from additional fees in Romania?
Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air made about EUR 125 million in Romania last year from additional charges such as the luggage fee. The company, which transported about 3.9 million passengers from and to Romania last year, charges an additional fee of EUR 32 per passenger.
Ryanair charges on average EUR 15.3 per passenger, and has collected about EUR 7.65 million in Romania from additional taxes in 16 months of activity, reports local Economica.net. Lufthansa Group, which includes the airlines Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Germanwings made about EUR 21.2 million from additional taxes in Romania last year.
Worldwide, the amount paid to the airlines for additional fees exceeded EUR 38 billion last year.
