How will Bucharest look like in 2035?
In the next 20 years, Bucharest should have a ring highway, a ring railway, underground parking, an urban highway, ports, a green belt, and a new airport in the south of the capital, according to the Development Ministry’s National Development Territorial Strategy.
For now the capital doesn’t even have an express ring road, and the highway bypass project is still in the feasibility study stage.
Transforming Bucharest into one of the most important cities in the south-east of Europe demands EUR 20 billion investments and 24 specific actions, according to the Ministry’s strategy, reports local Capital.ro.
Another important project is the completion of the Bucharest - Ploiesti highway, which should have 62 km, but only 55 km have been built so far. The highway is not directly connected to Bucharest’s inner road network and stops at the north ring road.
