Hungarian Minister criticizes Romania on gas interconnection

18 June 2015

Romania and Croatia failed to make the necessary investment to interconnect the natural gas delivery infrastructure, said Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Szijjarto.

This makes Central and Eastern Europe, including Hungary, vulnerable in terms of energy security, he added, reports local Mediafax.

The interconnection pipeline between Hungary and Slovakia can start transporting natural gas from July 1.

Hungary is the first EU member state which concludes a deal with Ukraine to reverse deliveries. This is a model for other EU states on the way Ukraine can connect to the EU energy market, the Hungarian Minister said.
