The number of hybrid and electric cars sold in Romania in the first seven months of the year rose by 62% compared to the same period last year, reaching 402 units.

Only 246 such cars were sold between January and July in 2015.

The sale of green cars accounted for 0.7% of the total new car sales in the first seven months of the year. In July, 95 green cars were sold, up 58% compared to the previous month.

The most sold brand on this segment was Toyota, with 258 units. The second most popular brand was Lexus, with 86 units, followed by BMW, with 15 units.

A total of 495 hybrid and electric cars were sold last year, more than double compared to 2014.
